Den Krieg

        18th of November 2009

         The war will commence in the morning. Even now, thousands of soldiers are prepping up their arsenals.

Weapons are cleaned , propped up and re-cleaned. This cycle continues relentlessly. Weapons that will be used would be mightier than any sword that  any expert blacksmith could possibly forge. Weapons that spit blue or black bullets. The targets are white plain planks with lines.

         The soldiers will fight enemies that are weaker , stronger or on par with themselves. Every soldier has to fend for themselves. There would be no such thing as collaboration and a united front in this war. It's every man for himself. Long term companero will turn into bitter competitors, all blood thirsty.

          This war will determine the victors from the losers, the losers from the sore losers, the connoisseurs from the dilettantes. The end of this war will dictate the fates of these various soldiers, whether they will emerge as dead privates, average captains or magnificent warlords.

           And, like any war, the victors will reap every ounce of the spoils of war. The euphoria will only be rewarded to those who had tried their level best in this oncoming war.

           The war will last for at least one week for some and more for the other some. Fight and keep on fighting until every last drop of the ink in your pens are depleted. Capture your dreams and follow the saying of the Pirates of the Carribean :

Take everything , give nothing back

            This is a chance of a lifetime. Make it worth every second. Now is our TIME !!!

Changing looks

Recently, I tried to change the looks of my blog - to a catastrophical nightmare. I wanted to change the background from just the dull black to something with pictures or patterns or something. Didn't know what I was doing though.
     My page end up without my the 'Followers' link and missing a lot of other widgets and gadgets. Since I made a backup download of the old template, I manage to revert it to the , well, old one.
     But still, some patterns would be nicer than dull nothingness. If anyone can help, please leave comments and tips. Thx. (Forgot to take screenshots of my screwed-up page,though.sorry)

My birthday or dupes' day ?

Like (or unlike most) people who are born on the first of April, I have always been greeted by "Happy April Fool" or just " April Fool ! " , instead of a good "Happy Birthday". Not to say the latter greeting never happened to me though... :).
One day, I thought "hey, what is the deal with April 1st anyway ?" And so I go to a couple of websites (fine, a website) to find out.
Fascinatingly, a lot of people don't even know how the widely practiced pranks-day started. But dig this. There are a couple of theories about its history of development..

THEORY 1

It came from France. Specifically 16th century France. During that time , a calendar different than our current one was used. The Julian calendar it was called. Apparently, in that calendar , new year starts on April 1st, not January 1st. Anyhow, later , someone called King Charles IX would declared that France would start using the Gregorian calendar, which puts new year's day on the first of January.

It was around this time that the April Fool's started. Why? During this time,not everyone agreed to the time-shift. Some believed that the time should not be changed at all. These guys became one of the first people to be the butt of April's Fool. They were pranked at and invited to bogus parties. Sadly, rural folks also got hit by this new event. But they were "pulled by their legs" because the news of the date and time shift had not reached them yet. And so , they were mocked and made fun of when they celebrated new year on the wrong date.

Nowadays, those pranks-victims in France are known as "Poisson d'Avril" which literally means "April Fish"

THEORY 2

Coincidentally, April Fool's Day is celebrated in conjuction with two other celebrations. In ancient Rome, on the same day as April Fool's , a festival called Hilaria was celebrated. The function of this celebration was to celebrate the resurrection of the god , Attis. Hilaria is probably the base word for hilarious or hilarity. On another note, there was this invention during Wolrd War II with a "hilarity" word in it. Although I don't think it's funny, considering its function. The invention was a minesweeper named "USS Hilarity (AM-241) ". Regarding Hilaria, nowadays it is known as Roman Laughing Day. That aside, a couple, if not a few, kilometres away, India celebrated the Holi festival , in which a part is cracking jokes and smearing each other faces with colours.

Since there is no connection between the current April Fool's with these two ancient festivals, the first theory is accepted by most historians.

3 week exam

Wow...the first week of a 3-week nightmare is nearly over. But that means there are two weeks left. Sadly, the first week is the easiest week.. The second week comprises of dual attack by additional math and a whole lot of scientific jargons in the third week. Save the best for last , as they say - though I'm not sure who "they" are -.
Tomorrow I'll be sitting for my math exam :). Wish me luck...
p.s. math exam ain't that much of a challenge...

First in class

Well, I just got my first monthly test results. And guess what..?!
Just like the title said! I got first..muahahahahahahaha
I got: math(100%)physics(100%)bio(90%)est(83%)and uh...
I kind of forgotten the others..*scratch and knock my own head*
uh..uh...*bang my head on the table and passed out*..
